Zhang Tong (张桐)
Zhang Tong (张桐) is a cellist and instructor at kids’ philharmonic@sg. He began his cello studies when he was 7 years old. His talent manifested early, and was recognized, leading to his scholarship to Shanghai Middle School in 2001.

In 2006 Zhang Tong participated in a cello festival in Kansas with full sponsorship. In the same year, he went to Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with a full scholarship and studied with Qin Li Wei, the Head of Cello Studies. He graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree, and in the same year he participated in the Great Mountains Music Festival in Korea with full sponsorship. Later, he attended masterclasses and private classes with Aldo Parisot and Jian Wang. Zhang Tong went to the fellowship in Hong Kong Philharmonic audition in the final round.

Zhang Tong is also a guest Principal Cellist of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and a freelance musician of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He also possesses experience in teaching and has instructed in many schools since the age of 16.
